Garudio Youth
Here is a really nice photo of our nails for the exhibition last year at the Sassoon Gallery.
MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM GARUDIO YOUTH! no christmas is a good christmas without a face full of glitter.
Today’s art-based offering is our new piece, currently winging it’s way to Denmark to go on show in A Secret Club’s latest project.
We sent a mixture of collage materials off in October, and received a package in return which we then had to re-form into a masterpiece. Here is a preview of our attempt..
‘Star’
An urban village settlement in the Dyatkovsky District of Bryansk Oblast, Russia.
Population: 5,003 (2010 Census Preliminary Results)
Here are a couple of photos from Peckham Space Open Exhibition Private View.
There is some really good stuff being shown by a range of artists including Chris Ratcliffe, Anna Walsh and Lucy Carruthers. The interesting orange beers on offer soon became the focus of our evening… but even without orange beers, the exhibition is well worth a visit.
Exhibition open till 17th Dec.
To see more photos head to our facebook page and ‘like’ it while you’re there, why not ay?
Here is what you’ve all been waiting for.. our most recent piece:
‘PECK-MAN’
“INSPIRED BY A SINGLE ILLUSTRATION THAT HAD THE CAPACITY TO FLOOD OUR SOCIETY’S VISUAL CULTURE, VIRALLY.
Pac-man iconography has always been a large area od inspiration for our generation. We decided to re-apply this aesthetic using materials generally witnessed as common waste on Rye Lane… This explores the cultural crossovers found in Peckham in a playful way.”
‘Wanderer’ by Anna Salmane.
Amazing exhibition at Westbourne Grove Church Artspace.
Open till 11/12/11.
Here are a few photos from the night ‘Space Oddity’ went live. Fun was had by all.
We’ve got LOADS coming up, to keep updated follow us on twitter @garudioyouth
For your viewing pleasure… ‘Space Oddity’ an experimental piece by Garudio Youth. Currently standing proud in a rather spectacular warehouse/bar/gallery space in Hackney Wick.
Here’s the blurb:
Space Oddity
“Take your protein pills and put your helmet on.”
Our work crosses between the gallery space and the public realm; we use installations, sculptures, and other forms of visual communication as apparatus to open up a space where the possible and the actual come together. We employ a strong aesthetic language that keys into ‘popular imaginary’ as useful and effective communication tools.
We went to the private view for StickaRock last night. Beautifully crafted lettering and graffiti hand styles. Check it out at Number 6, until January.
Collage project is underway. We have been asked to participate in a project for ‘A Secret Club’. Exhibition goes on show some time in December, in Denmark.
Here’s a sneak peek.
Today we ventured to the Hunterian Museum. It is amazing, well worth a visit. Cameras are strictly prohibited.. unfortunately for us.
Garudio Youth favourite features include.. a baby’s face in a jar, a giant moonfaced skull and a sloth foetus (possibly the most bizarre thing I have ever seen!.. pure E.T.)
yum yum yum
We have reached the dizzying heights of appearing in the South London Press. Exciting times. This is surely the beginning of some big things for the youth. Get ready for the revolution.
The exhibition article shared its glorious page with a rather incredible story about young Charlize Gillard, a 3 year old (ginger) girl from Clapham, getting her head stuck in a potty. What a trooper.
